The “Loyola de Palacio Energy Policy” series honors Loyola de Palacio (1950-2006) former Vice-President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for Energy and Transport (1999-2004), having been a pioneer in the building of an EU Energy Policy.
This series will promote energy policy research, develop the academic knowledge and nurture the “market for ideas” in the field of energy policy making. It will offer informed and up-to-date analysis on key European energy policy issues (from market building to security of supply; from climate change to zero carbon economy and society). It will engage a fruitful dialogue between academics (of all kinds: economists, lawyers, engineers or political scientists), practitioners, decision-makers and public opinion.
This Loyola de Palacio Series complement the large range of activities performed at the Loyola de Palacio Chair. That series and Chair are directed by Professor Jean-Michel Glachant (Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies at European University institute in Florence, , and University Paris-Sud 11).
In late 2009 we have concluded the final agreement with the Publisher Edward Elgar to open a book series named the “Loyola de Palacio Series in Energy Policy”. It will promote energy policy research, develop the academic knowledge and nurture the “market for ideas” in the field of energy policy making.
