RESEARCH PROJECT 2010 In 2010, the Chair will engage in a new program of four workshops dedicated to “Energy Networks and Regulation under Climate Change Policy” in cooperation with the research group “Network Economics and Engineering” at the SUPELEC engineering school (France). We will look at the needs of transmission and distribution networks for a new kind of regulation supporting EU climate change policy. These workshops will host academics and stakeholders (energy ministries, European Commission, regulators and the industry). The program will deliver a set of ending conclusions and recommendations on the needed adaptation of network regulation to the EU climate change policy.
ADDITIONAL RESEARCH PROJECT 2009-2010 The annual research project undertaken in 2009 pushed us to look at a possible improvement of the institutional foundations of European Union energy policy. A part of this work resulted in a cooperation with “Notre Europe” and ended in the policy proposal made by Jacques Delors in April 2010 (“Towards a European Energy Community”). Another part has been our study of a possible “Schengen-like” re-foundation of EU energy policy.
RESEARCH PROJECT 2009 In 2009, we have structured the work of the Loyola de Palacio Chair around the "Smart EU Energy Policy" Workshops. This project ended with common conlcusions accompanied by 22 recommendations that can be found on this section. These conclusions were already disseminated by EU energy policy blog www.energypolicyblog.com and European Energy Review www.europeanenergyreview.eu.
FIRST REPORT OF THE LDP CHAIR ON EU ENERGY POLICY The first report of the Loyola de Palacio Chair on EU Energy Policy includes all activities and publications we have produced between October 2008 and September 2009. The report can be downloaded here.
